Tarlac State University received awards as one of the top-performing institutions in the recently concluded March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) during the oathtaking ceremony for new professional teachers on June 20, 2026.

Held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, San Fernando, Pampanga, two certificates of recognition were given by the Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) for Professional Teachers, through the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Regional Office III, for ranking fifth place (with 300 or more examines) in the Secondary Level, and sixth place (with 100 or more examinees) in the Elementary Level.

University president Dr. Jasper Jay N. Mendoza accepted the awards together with College of Education Dean Dr. Cynthia G. Quiambao, Associate Dean and department head of BSEd Dr. Jeanette Baquing, and department head of BEEd Dr. Melanie Masangkay.

TSU achieved an institutional passing rate of 88.04% compared to the 73.14% national passing rate at the secondary level, while the elementary level achieved an institutional passing rate of 85.91% compared to the 56.08% national passing rate.

Among those who took the oath in Pampanga was Mr. Sherwin De Vera, a faculty member from the Bachelor of Physical Education department. He joins the other 45,000 successful secondary-level examinees nationwide.

Moreover, the university produced four topnotchers in the licensure examination for secondary level. Chrisel Mijares Angeles placed 5th (94.20%), Chloei Shayne Pineda Padlan placed 7th (93.80%), while Angelica Dona De Guzman and Kimberly Torres ranked 9th with an average of 93.40%.

PRB for Professional Teachers chairperson Hon. Rosita L. Navarro said in her message that the board is always anxious to meet the passers after the release of the examination results.

“Kala ba ninyo kayo lang ang nagpuyat? Ang board din nagpuyat – nagpuyat dahil kailangan makagawa kami ng mga tanong na maglalabas ng tunay na katangian ng mga kabataan na siyang hahawak ng kinabukasan ng Pilipinas. That’s a very heavy toll on us, [the] board,” she said.

“That is why we welcome every oathtaking ceremony and go out of our way to join, because of the relief that we experience – knowing that again, we [already have] the future of the Philippines in our hands,” she added.

Other officials, together with Hon. Navarro, are other PRB members: Hon. Paz I. Lucido, Hon. Paraluman R. Giron, PRC Regional Director Mr. Paul H. Aban, and Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) Vice President Dr. Elmer B. De Leon.
