Two programs of Tarlac State University were formally awarded their Level IV re-accredited certificates from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines Inc. (AACCUP) on July 21, 2026, at the Smith Hall Theater Room, Main Campus.
The College of Business and Accountancy’s BS Hospitality Management acquired a grand mean of 4.5, while the College of Arts and Social Sciences’ BA Communication received 4.60.
University President Dr. Jasper Jay N. Mendoza said in his message to always raise the bar of excellence in education.
“Accreditation at its heart is an act of utility, and that is precisely what I have heard. It is a university opening its doors and saying, ‘Examine us. Question us. Hold us to the highest standard’, because our students deserve goodness,” he remarked.
Dr. Henry Rufino, Office of Quality Assurance Director, led the discussion of results. He also lauded the departments, noting that this is a great achievement, as it is the highest level of accreditation awarded by AACCUP.
CBA Dean Dr. Derick Figueroa commended the BSHM department for a successful undertaking. He noted that even while on maternity leave, BSHM Chairperson Dr. Criselda Tonelada remained dedicated to preparing the required accreditation documents.
Meanwhile, CASS Dean Dr. Myrel Santiago highlighted the university's culture of quality.
“The success we built today was not built merely on intensive preparation for accreditation. It was made possible because quality and standards have always been part of your daily practice. Excellence is not an event in the department nor in the whole college. It is a culture,” she said.
The Level IV re-accredited status of both programs is valid from March 16, 2026, to March 15, 2031.
