Tarlac State University's College of Education and the Office of Quality Assurance welcomed the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office III-Regional Quality Assessment Team to evaluate the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAEd) program onsite.

The onsite evaluation at the Lucinda Campus today (March 13) aims to assess the institution's qualifications to offer the BCAEd program under CoEd.

The RQAT evaluators, led by Dr. Regidor G. Gaboy and Dr. Ruben E. Borja II, assessed various areas, including administration, faculty, curriculum, physical facilities, laboratories, and library resources, following CHED Memorandum Order No. 82, Series of 2017.

As part of the assessment process, Dr. Borja also visited the Jose V. Yap Library at the Lucinda Campus, where he learned about the library's Online Public Access Catalog, RFID system, and visitors counter.

During the exit conference, Dr. Borja noted that the program complies with most areas but provided minor recommendations regarding curriculum enhancement, increased library resources for culture and arts education, and updating some faculty records.

"Congratulations to TSU for your hard work and unwavering commitment to quality education. We look forward to seeing the institution reach even greater heights in the future," Dr. Borja said.

In response to the evaluators' recommendations, CoEd Dean Dr. Jasper Jay N. Mendoza assured that the college will work on submitting the requirements for the program.

On the other hand, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg emphasized in her opening remarks the university's commitment toward ensuring quality in programs to be offered.

"Here at TSU, we make sure that before we open a program, we first consult with our quality assurance team to ensure the university is fully prepared to offer it," VP Macaraeg said.

Moreover, TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco signified full support for the new program and thanked those involved in the evaluation process.

Pres. Velasco also commended the college for its program offerings, which provide students with a wide range of academic options at the university.

"We should continue taking steps in this direction for our development as one of the most sustainable universities in the Philippines," he said.

The official results for issuing the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) are expected to be released within two to three weeks after the university complies with the evaluators' minor recommendations.

This onsite evaluation was facilitated by the OQA, led by Dr. Niño B. Corpuz, director, and Dr. Ma. Socorro D. Valdez, assistant director.
